Hand-foot-mouth disease, impetigo, and scarlet fever: common child diseases

The very common childhood diseases are the hand-foot-mouth disease that is most of the time confused with foot and mouth disease. This disease causes blisters along with fever, the blisters generally appear within the mouth and also on the palms and the feet soles. The blisters may also appear in the bum region of the baby as well. This type of disease is caused by the enteroviruses called the coxsackievirus. The disease generally appears in the early days of the summer season as well as during the winter. The illness goes away within ten days but can be very discomforting for certain babies.

Hand-foot-mouth disease, impetigo, and scarlet fever: common child diseases

Infection by the bacteria called the streptococcus bacteria causes the common childhood disease of scarlet fever. Scarlet fever occurs with the infection of strep throat and this leads to fever and soared throat. The rash of the disease starts on the chest also with the abdominal region and then spreads to the different parts of the body. Scarlet fever was once considered to be a very deadly disease but now antibiotics are administered and this brings down the effects and cures the disease.

Impetigo is another one of the most common childhood diseases and it is basically an infection of the skin caused by a very contagious virus. This type of disease is very infectious and may even spread to adults. The disease is characterized by the appearance of red rashes that constantly give out the fluid. These rashes can be very itchy and can cause a lot of discomfort to the infant. Though the sores do not cause scarring in the skin they must be treated with antibiotics to cure.

Types of baby injuries and prevention method

Babies are very prone to get injured and this is generally caused by the different playthings that they use and occur mostly during they play. The baby injuries must be treated at once because these injuries may get worse with time and they may develop certain types of infections. If the infection spreads then there is also the chance of the development of fever and this will definitely worsen the situation.

To prevent baby injuries, there are two basic steps that can be followed and these steps generally ensures that the baby gets the minimal number of injuries as possible. They are:

  • To build a control environment for the children
  • To have someone to look over the baby during playtime
  • Generally the boy infants get injured 50 percent times more then the girl baby. This is because of the reason that the bys are more active in participation while playing are they move about much more.

But however the major cause of baby injuries is falls. The infant may slip or may trip on the same level or fall from a certain height. There may be falls that are associated with the paly equipments and this type of fall includes about 44 percent. The prevention of the injuries must be done at first and this is more effective if we can isolate the hazards and identify them rightly. You must remove the hazard and introduce equipments that maintain safety standards. Furniture around the children should also be made in a certain way so that they ensure the safety of the children to the maximum.
